Anne's own true love, Gilbert Blythe, is finally a doctor, and in the sunshine of the old orchard, among their dearest friends, they are about to speak their vows. Soon the happy couple will be bound for a new life together and their own dream house, on the misty purple shores of Four Winds Harbor.
A new life means fresh problems to solve, fresh surprises. Anne and Gilbert will make new friends and meet their neighbors: Captain Jim, the lighthouse attendant, with his sad stories of the sea; Miss Cornelia Bryant, the lady who speaks from the heart - and speaks her mind; and the tragically beautiful Leslie Moore, into whose dark life Anne shines a brilliant light.
Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942), was a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables. The book was an immediate success and the central character, Anne, an orphaned girl, made Montgomery famous in her lifetime and gave her an international following. The first novel was followed by a series of sequels with Anne as the central character.

My review for Anne of the Island
REVIEW:
I've read the first 2 so many times it's gross.... and the third a couple times. I never went further in the series until now.

I'm glad I did!
I get to see Anne in another phase of her life. Married life. It is a good life, for the most part, although there is tragedy as well. In true Anne fashion all storms are weathered and life is whimsical once again.
As Anne loved the House of Dreams, so did the reader. The descriptions of it seems magical, like heaven on Earth.
I definitely look forward to the next book in the series.
4/5
