In this moody short story, bestselling author of The Secret Witness Victor Methos weaves a psychological legal thriller about one lawyer’s quest for a fair trial when the only suspect is his client.
Nick Collins vows to uncover the truth behind an accusation of murder, but as the trial progresses, the only truth he discovers is that his big-city client doesn’t stand a chance against small-town beliefs. If the accused is found guilty until proven innocent, the real killer could still be out there, and there won’t be any heroes left to catch them.
Victor Methos’s Kill Night is part of We Could Be Heroes, a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. Read or listen to each in a single sitting.
Victor Methos is the bestselling and award-winning author of several legal thrillers, including The Secret Witness, The Neon Lawyer, The Hallows, and A Gambler’s Jury. He has been the recipient of the Harper Lee Prize and was nominated for the highly esteemed Edgar Award for Best Novel.

REVIEW:
I had not even heard of this author before, and since I knew of all the other authors in this book series, I was excited to get started.

I liked the story, but I also didn't.... it was the ending that blew it for me. I( was all invested in this lawyer tale, and then it ended so abruptly that I am left agape. It was going so well that it was unexpected.
Didn't make me want to read more from this author....

UGH! There's nothing worse than to NOT DNF a book, only to hate the ending. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteToo bad! I enjoy lawyer thrillers, but I don't like a disjointed ending.
