July Monthly News

Welcome to the July 2023 edition of monthly news! We start off with Canada Day here. I wasn't feeling very festive though.... We were supposed to have a birthday party for my uncle that passed at the end of June. It turned into a celebration of life. Myself and my cousins... A bunch of my family showed up even though it rained steady. It was a great tribute to a great man! Hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary, but kept it low key.  Neither of us were feeling festive so soon after uncle passing. After 23 years together, we know where we stand without any festivities.....  I got a memorial tattoo for my uncle that passed.... He loved corn, and he went to a local farm every year to stock up. He also stocked me up. As he was dying, he said he had a 100 acre farm to grow his Snider's corn on. I knew in that moment this tattoo would happen, and thankfully, he would approve! I hope you got your corn farm, uncle! 🌽💗 Had a family dinner near the end of the month with one of

Book Club: The Next Chapter

AVAILABLE NOW! RATED PG  108 MINUTES AMAZON The highly anticipated sequel follows our four best friends as they take their book club to Italy for the fun girls trip they never had. When things go off the rails and secrets are revealed, their relaxing vacation turns into a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure. REVIEW: After watching the first Book Club film and laughing my butt off, I knew I had to see this sequel. The four ladies are a riot!!! It wasn't as funny as the first film. It was more dramatic and romantic, very romantic. It is in Italy, so where better for romance. Plus the element of one of them getting married adds to it. I liked the cute plot twist at the end, and Bette Midler singing 'Mambo Italiano' was a great touch. Definitely more chick flick than the first one. 3.5/5 **Compensation may be earned from the link within. This copy was received to facilitate this review. Opinions are owned by Freda's Voice.

Station Eleven #TVShow

Streaming on Crave 10 episodes AMAZON Survivors of a devastating flu attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what's been lost. My review for the book, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel REVIEW: I was in the middle of the road with the book. The beginning was less than satisfying, so it made for reading three hundred and something pages hard to start into. It was good enough at the end to intrigue me enough to want to watch the tv adaption.  The series starts off exactly as the book but maybe better. The book was flipping between point of views, where the show although it does it, it's more fluid. It made for a better beginning and I was hopeful. Then it got weird. Just like the book. But unlike the book, you were able to get through it and understand it. What I appreciate about this series was how real it felt, especially after the beginning of our own pandemic and what we went through. It was easier to connect to the show. I did re

Which plot twist is your favorite?  I like any plot twist that I didn't see coming. To name one specifically one the spot seems tough. Definitely a plot twist kind of girl reading as much thriller/mystery/suspense as I do..... **This is a book meme post.
