From Director Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect 2), comes Cocaine Bear, the “wildly entertaining” (the Mary Sue) story inspired by the time an actual bear did cocaine. The comedy-laced, high-octane film phenomenon stars Keri Russell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Margo Martindale (American Crime Story), and the late Ray Liotta (Goodfellas) in “a thrilling binge of adrenaline” (TheWrap). The ‘Maximum Rampage Edition,’ loaded with behind-the-scenes extras including an alternate ending, deleted scenes and gag reel, will be yours to own on Digital May 9, 2023 and Blu-ray™ and DVD May 23, 2023 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE).
Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500-pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.
REVIEW:
The hubby and I watched this together. For the most part, it was a decent film. It was well made, that's for sure. The cinematics are crazy!! To have that bear come to life and be wild like he was, brilliant!! It said it had gore. The killing scenes, and they were a lot, were not as bad as I thought they would be. The killings were appropriate for the deaths since you know it's a bear mauling. I could tell it wasn't so bad, hubby didn't leave the room once.
I have to admit though, there were a couple of moments that were a bit of a bore. I get the needed to make a movie long enough, but a couple scenes were unnecessary and a snoozefest. Thankfully, they didn't last long at all and it was back to the story.
This is going to be a movie that is geared to a certain crowd. It's based on a true story, which we won't even talked about how messed up that is. The person or people who watch this will be fans of thrillers/horrors and won't mind seeing things die.
