When a stranger comes to town, secrets are sure to come out. New York Times bestselling author Tamsyn Muir spins a twisty—and twisted—short story of revenge and survival.
A fresh-faced newcomer arrives in an isolated, gang-run town and soon finds herself taking a job nobody else wants: bodyguard to a ghoul. Not just your average mindless, half-rotted shuffler, though. Lucille is a dancer who can still put on her own lipstick and whose shows are half burlesque, half gladiator match. But the stranger is no stranger to this particular ghoul. Both women are undercover in their own way. And both have something to lose if their connection comes to light.
Tamsyn Muir is the New York Times bestselling author of the Locked Tomb series. Her first book, Gideon the Ninth, won the Locus Award for Best First Novel and the Crawford Award, and her work has also been shortlisted for the Nebula Award and multiple Hugo Awards.

REVIEW:
I knew nothing of this author or her writing before this short story.
At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this story at all. It was weird. It just happens to be one of those stories that you have to read all the way through to appreciate.
Though, it still is not my favorite of the series. Mostly, I'm just not into ghoul stories. The writing happens to be clever though. I appreciate those stories that you have to read it all to 'get' it. Like having a full circle moment. The writing is good enough that I want to read more from her.
