Q:   What was your favorite genre to read as a child? Do you still read that genre, or do you read something else now?
A: I started reading my mother's Stephen King books around 10 years old. I spent a lot of time grounded and didn't have any books other than the Brittanica set that was getting pretty baffed out from reading it so much, so I ventured into the thrilling world of a master. I lit a fire in me to love stories. I definitely still read horror, thriller suspense and it is of course among my favorite. I like a scare. It makes you feel alive when you know it's not real.

  1. The book sounds interesting. I used to love Stephen King's books. I haven't read one in a long time, though. Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I've only read Salem and that was because my uncle lent it to me and said that it was the only book that he had ever really read! I do need to read more Stephen King.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. I never really had a favorite genre as a child, I chose to explore all genres then. Today I am the same way I suppose, I like so many different genres. I do tend to gear towards the psychological thriller genre lately. But I try to make myself go out of my comfort zone and try something new, but it is hard for me.

  8. I enjoy reading modern updates on Greek Mythology.

  9. Persephone sounds like it would be good. I have a couple of Grossman's books on my TBR shelf but haven't yet read them.

My dad used to joke that he wasn't sure how to punish me if I got in trouble because grounding me was more like a reward--I'd just use the time to read.

I hope you have a great week, Freda!

  10. A new to me author.. that 56 intrigues! And while I am 'kind of everything' reader, I am yet to read King's horror novels (though I have read his 'On Writing' and some of his short stories, including the one that Shawshank's Redemption is based on!)
    thanks for hosting

  11. Hi Freda, I am just letting everyone know that I follow on BBH, etc, that I am going to try something new (well, new for me) out. I know that there are other memes similar to this, but I just thought I would do it since Lia doesn’t blog any longer. So let’s see how it goes. I have joined a lot of other memes so maybe you could ‘pay it forward’ and join mine and pass me on if you would be so kind 😉 I am just letting everyone know that I follow on BBH that I am going to try something new (well, new for me) out.
