So, this is me. Lily Allen.
I am a mother, and I was a wife. I'm also a singer and a songwriter. I have loved and been let down. I've been stalked and assaulted. I am a success and a failure. I've been broken and full of hope. I am all these things and more.
I'm telling my truth because when women share their stories, loudly and clearly and honestly, things begin to change - for the better.
So, this is my story. These are my thoughts exactly.
Lily Allen is a singer, songwriter, and presenter. Her first single, "Smile," reached no. 1 and her debut album sold millions of copies. So far, she has released three albums, with a fourth hotly-anticipated album on its way. Lily has won 30 major awards for her singing and songwriting skills, including three prestigious Ivor Novello awards and a BRIT award.
REVIEW:
I knew Lily Allen was a celebrity, but honestly, that's where it ended for me. I wasn't sure if it was acting, singing or something else all together. Still, I found this book as a way to learn more.
I felt like I connected with her on so many levels, and disliked her all at the same time. I've never been famous, wrote music or even played in a band, but I was a drug addict and lived a very toxic life for a short time. Those moments in the book, I knew how she felt. I knew why she was doing it. I totally got it!
She is such a narcissist though. She openly admits it too. That is frustrating. It sucks as a reader, trying to get to know her too.
I feel for her. I feel like she should want more for herself since she so candidly tells the reader how she has the means to do what most people can't. But I digress....
Not a book I'd recommend, fan or not. Her fans may not like some of the things she says in this book and the ignorant reader, like me, definitely will not.
I shared her video for the one song that I actually know, Smile. Enjoy, it's a great tune!
