Q:  What book/books got a lot of hype but were a disappointment for you?
A: Right away I can think of two, The Raven Boys and Station Eleven. Sorry, not sorry. Especially for Emily Mandel's book. I had read The Singer's Gun years ago and loved it. Station Eleven just didn't compare for me after reading that. So nope. The Raven Boys, every one of the blogs I follow loved it, and just sitting here writing about it my face get twisted up. I'm still like whatever. đŸ€·

  4. I loved the Raven Boys and Station Eleven (but that was my first book by the author)--I'll need to check out The Singer's Gun!

  5. That prologue opening has my thoughts going in all sorts of directions. Not a good situation to be in. And your Friday 56 is quite intense! I am glad to see you enjoyed Willow Rose.

I haven't read either Station Eleven or Raven Boys, although I do want to. I enjoyed a couple of Mandel's earlier books and remember when Station Eleven came out--how excited everyone was. It's one of those books I worry won't live up to the hype. I can see it didn't for you. We can't all like the same books, right?

Have a great weekend, Freda. Stay safe and well.

REVIEW: It was weird starting off with a He-Man lookalike, Thunder the Barabarian), until I realized a character from the film was watching the cartoon in the airplane. Still, it was kind of cool to reminice about two cartoons from my childhood. So many great actors bring the film to life! What a fun story it was too! Although
