The Aftermath is set in postwar Germany in 1946. Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter, to be reunited with her husband Lewis (Jason Clarke), a British colonel charged with rebuilding the shattered city. But as they set off for their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: They will be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower (Alexander SkarsgĂĄrd) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal.
REVIEW:
Normally war is not a genre I watch. Not a fan of it.
I also have come to realize that I'm not a big fan of dramas. I want action and excitement!
Brownie points for one of the characters sharing a name with me. You can't find my name on anything, not even a keychain, so to see a Freda in this film was cool.
The story itself wasn't for me, although it was executed well. I just take my marriage vows seriously so movies with infidelities don't appeal to me.
I actually almost fell asleep so probably not a movie I'll be recommending any time soon.
2/5
