June Monthly News

Welcome to the June edition of the monthly news! June was a weird month. One day it snowed, the next we had a heatwave. I just can't deal with global warming anymore. Frankly, neither can my head. All the up and downs gives me headaches. Then it gets stressful going online, seeing all the bad shit going on in the world besides viruses trying to kill us.
#BlackLivesMatter
This world is a place I just don't like anymore. When you're young, they say, if you don't like how it is then change it. Yeah, kinda can't do that nowadays. We are all stuck in a boat with only one oar. If the leaders of our countries cannot lead by example, how can we be anything other than what we are and what we've created for society?! Now I'm on a tangent that I didn't think I would get on.... So let's move on. Father's Day is bittersweet for me with my dad gone, I get to spoil my hubby though for all he does. Usually we would go out to eat at The Keg. This year, we grabbed it curbs…

Tears Of The Silenced by Misty Griffin (36)

Paperback: 256 pagesPublisher: Mango (December 3, 2019)ISBN: 9781642502503

AMAZON

A true story of child abuse. When Misty Griffin was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch and subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. Their step-father kept a loaded rifle by the door to make sure the young girls were too terrified to try to escape. No rescue would ever come since the few people who knew they existed did not care.
Misty left the Amish 13 years ago and is currently a nursing student.

REVIEW: At moments, this was a tough book to read. You feel dirty at times, witnessing the abuse these two girls, their grandmother and their aunt suffered through the book. It almost felt wrong to read it. But there is a message there. Moving forward is possible. You won't feel it at that moment, in that space in time, but it is there. Just like it was for Misty. She took that po…

She thought she could keep it a secret.

Just fourteen years old, Amalie thought she could take off and go to the festival with her best friend without anyone knowing it - without her parents finding out. She thought she was safe when she met a man offering her drugs; she thought she was safe when she went alone to her tent to take the pills. However, when she opened her eyes and found herself in the man's basement, she knew she was not safe anymore.

She was trapped.

Willow Rose has written another mystery-series that also takes place in the small kingdom of Denmark. Currently she has released 10 books in her Emma Frost-series.
She has also just released the first book in a new series taking place in Cocoa beach, Florida. The first book is called Hit the Road Jack (Jack Ryder #1). Also don't miss out on her 7th street crew-series. It is getting lots of raving reviews.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell star in this outrageous comedy about a family's misadventures during a ski vacation in the Alps. Billie and Pete (Louis-Dreyfus and Ferrell) are looking forward to a delightful week at a European mountain resort with their two sons. But Pete's reaction to what turns out to be a non-threatening avalanche is different from Billie's, and suddenly the couple's marriage seems to be on ice. Unable to put the avalanche incident out of their minds, Pete and Billie spend separate time with a lineup of characters: Pete skis and binge-drinks with his coworker (Zach Woods), who's at the euphoric beginning of a relationship with his hashtag-obsessed girlfriend (Zoe Chao), and Billie gets unexpected advice from a sensuous ski instructor (Giulio Berruti) and a sex-crazed hotel concierge (Miranda Otto). The time apart and cringe-worthy encounters help bring perspective to Pete and Billie, who realize they mu…

In this subversive satire, a group of elites gather for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt ordinary Americans for sport. But the elites' master plan is about to be derailed because one of The Hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin), knows The Hunters' game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers. Picking them off one by one as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman, (two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.

REVIEW: Like, WHOA!!! Right from the start it is action-packed and gripping! It's not for the feint of heart though. You need to have a strong stomach for a couple of the killings. There was definitely a couple of 'Holy Crap!' moments. The hubby watched the whole things too, and he is not a fan of this genre so there's something to be said to that. He really enjoyed it! So did I! There was comical moments. Crystal is not only badass, but she's sassy too. She is really a g…
