Harry Potter is midway through his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup. He wants to find out about the mysterious event that's supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn't happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he's not normal - even by wizarding standards. And in his case, different can be deadly.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was J.K. Rowling's first novel, followed by the subsequent six titles in the Harry Potter series, as well as three books written for charity: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The Harry Potter novels have now sold over 450 million copies worldwide and been translated into 78 languages.

My review for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
REVIEW:
My favorite so far!
I loved the story in this one. The intensity of a villain like Sirius Black on the loose, mixed with a dose of Lord Voldemort, and the excitement was page-turning! Plus I felt more adventure in this one with the tournament Harry had to participate in.
It was sad to see death in this one, but it is imminent after all so I shouldn't have been surprised. And yet I was.

This book is by far the biggest of the series too. It was easy to read, but still took some time to get through. I don't mind though, it was so worth it.
Get onto reading this series if you haven't already. Seriously.
