Split Pea And Ham Soup

My husband's favorite soup is pea soup. He likes that Habitat can soup. I'm not crazy about anything that comes in a can, so I tried my hand at some homemade soup. It turned out amazing! I won't buy that canned stuff for him ever again.
It helps I had a leftover ham hock from Easter waiting to be used for some kind of soup....
Happy birthday to my husband, Vince. This recipe is dedicated to him.
INGREDIENTS leftover ham hock2 tbsp margarine2 big carrots, peeled and diced2 celery stalks, washed and diced1 nice size onion, diced1 & 3/4 cups split yellow peas, rinsed (they're a buck cheaper than green)1 bay leaf1 tsp dry thyme2 cartons chicken stock3 cups waterpepper to tastebaguetteMETHOD

Renowned detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) attempts to solve what would become one of the most infamous crimes in history. After a shocking murder of a wealthy businessman on the lavish European train, private detective Poirot must use every tool of his trade to uncover which of the train’s eclectic passengers is the killer, before he or she strikes again.

REVIEW: Fantastic! Read the book many, many years ago and knew there was an older film adaption but I've never seen that one. This movie was epic though! Kenneth Branagh, amazing! He is the perfect cheeky intellect that we know as Hercules Poirot. The other wonderful collection of cast members helped make this story come alive. Loved the set design too. The hubby and I both had a couple of 'Oh, wow!' moments while watching. Some of the scenes were really beautiful. Even if you haven't read the book, or seen the older film, see this one. My…

Notes From The Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky (15)

Paperback: 126 pagesKindle: 918 KBPublisher: Amazon Classics (Nov. 21 2017)ISBN: 9781985811201ASIN: B0756XHTQ5
AMAZON US   |    AMAZON CA   |   AMAZON UK

Isolated from society in a tenement basement in St. Petersburg, a malicious former civil servant vents his resentments. In the rambling notes that follow, we are exposed to the inner turmoil of the Underground Man, who represents the voice of his generation. An emotional, paranoid knot of contradictions, the spiteful narrator is also desperate to join a society he loathes, if only to prove his superiority to it. Exploring themes of free will versus determinism, Dostoyevsky’s existential exploration was written to challenge increasingly popular Western egoist philosophies. In the Underground Man, he found the embodiment of the antihero, whose behavior—like all human behavior—defies rationalization. Amazon Classics brings you timeless works from the masters of storytelling. Ideal for anyone who wants to read a great work for the first time…
