    REVIEW:
    Great cinematography!
The hubby and I watched this together. I had seen him play the game a few times, but my knowledge of the game is slim-to-none. I didn't know the story or the characters, other than the role he played as the assassin. This is where the hubby could fill me in, knowing the game inside and out.
The first thing he noticed was how much story they added to an already existing story, though that was minimal to begin with. There were a couple of moments that he was lost at what was happening, since it didn't happen in the game. It made the movie better though. The story got quite exciting, full of action, and pulled us in deep.
The actors were well cast in this film too. They played the scenes well, which were also very vivid and brought it all to life. It was so interesting, even if you had no knowledge of the game or its existence. For those that know the game will agree some of the scenes are spot on! It was such a good movie!

    Author Spring Rituals

Spring is wonderful because I like to walk outside and escape the treadmill.  Spring also means getting the garden ready—my husband and I both like flowers.  We have lots of roses and the Chrysler Imperial is my favorite.   Our family gets together before Easter so the grandkids can dye eggs and bake a bunny cake and then we cook out.  Spring is fun because it’s beautiful and it means summer is coming!

#Win A Baby For The Deputy by Cathy McDavid (US)

CATHY MCDAVID made it her goal to read every Walter Farley book ever written when she was in the third grade. Who knew such an illustrious ambition would eventually lead to a lifelong love of all things Western and a career writing contemporary romances for Harlequin? With more than 1 million books sold, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author is a member of the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s Honor Roll. An “almost” Arizona native and mom to "fairly" grownup twins, she lives with her own real-life sweetheart and spends her days penning stories about good-looking cowboys riding the range, busting a bronc, and sweeping gals off their feet. It a tough job, but she’s willing to make the sacrifice.

    1)      How did you come up with the relationship between Aaron Travers and Melody Hartman?
There seems to be a trend these days for young couples to “hang out together” rather than date --- at least, that’s what I hear and what my daughter tells me. I gave Aaron and Mel difficult romantic pasts, which made the idea of a no-strings-attached relationship appealing to them, then complicated things with an unexpected pregnancy because, well, life is complicated.
    2)      What is your favorite part about writing Western Romance books?
I truly am a lover of all things western. I owned horses most of my life, grew up watching Bonanza and Big Valley reruns, and lived the western lifestyle for many, many years. For me, there is no sexier, more appealing romance book hero than a rugged, good looking cowboy.
    3)      Do you have any traditions you enjoy during early Spring?
You mean besides the mandatory spring cleaning and yard work? Absolutely! I always attend the Glendale Chocolate Affair in February and Tucson Festival of Books in March where local romance writers host two to three days of mega book signings. I love connecting with readers, both new and those that drop by every year for my latest release. Plus, I’m surrounded by books and authors.
    4)      When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Like a lot of authors, I started writing at a young age. For me, it was in high school (I actually won a contest for a children’s book I wrote and illustrated). I didn’t seriously, however, until twenty years later. And it wasn’t until I finished that first book that I realized I’d found my passion. Two years ago, I quite the corporate world altogether to write full-time. It’s been a dream come true.
    5)      How long does it take you to write a book?
Two weeks of intense planning and three months to write the book from  start to finish. Of course, I always wind up trashing some of those             carefully constructed plans in favor of better ideas that strike me along the way.

    Western Romance; March 7, 2017
    $5.25 U.S.; 224 Pages
              ISBN-978-0-373-757497

A secret, no-strings relationship with Aaron Travers has suited Melody Hartman just fine for the past eight months. The lives of the Mustang Valley veterinarian and the deputy sheriff have always been complicated—and are about to become more so, because Mel is pregnant!

Raising his toddler daughter and protecting his Arizona town are Aaron's priorities. But this unexpected pregnancy is a life changer. The widowed single dad is ready to do the right thing and marry Mel. Can he say the three words she is waiting to hear? Will she think he wants to marry her only because of the baby? Or will she acknowledge that their feelings for each other run deeper than either of them realized?

    Wildcat by Sara Paretsky (7)

    • Kindle: 842 KB
    • Print Length: 48 pages
    • Publisher: Witness Impulse (March 7, 2017)
    • ASIN: B01N5EKGTQ

V.I. Warshawski developed her strength and sense of justice at a very early age.  It’s 1966 and on the south side of Chicago racial tensions are at an all-time high. Dr. Martin Luther King is leading marches at Marquette Park and many in the neighborhood are very angry. With nothing but a bicycle, eighty-two cents in her pocket, and her Brownie camera hanging from her wrist, Victoria sneaks off to Marquette Park alone to protect her father Tony, a police officer who is patrolling the crowds. What begins as a small adventure and a quest to find her father and make sure he is safe turns into something far more dangerous.  As the day goes on and the conflict at the park reaches a fever pitch Victoria realizes she must use her courage and ingenuity if she wants to keep herself and her family members out of harm’s way.

Hailed by P.D. James as "the most remarkable" of modern crime writers, Sara Paretsky is the New York Times-bestselling author of nineteen previous novels, including the renowned V.I. Warshawski series. She is one of only four living writers – alongside John Le CarrĂ©, Sue Grafton, and Lawrence Block – to have received both the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America and the Cartier Diamond Dagger from the Crime Writers' Association of Great Britain. She lives in Chicago with her husband.

    REVIEW:
    A fun little story!
I wouldn't call it V.I's first case so much as her introduction to bad guys. She didn't really go on a case, but was being a nosy child chasing things she maybe shouldn't have.
It made for a good, quick read though. It also helped shape why V.I. became the private detective that she did. This incident would have created that whole spark.
I loved the movie, so it was nice to read a story with a familiar character. I definitely want to read more now too!

    XMen Apocalypse

    Rated PG
    144 minutes

AMAZON US   |   AMAZON CA   |   AMAZON UK

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

My review for XMen Days of Future Past

    REVIEW:
    Fantastic movie!
Out of all the XMen movies I have seen, and I have seen most of them if not all, this was one of the best. Staying true to the comic in every way, blended with an exciting, edge-of-the-seat story line, I was hooked from the beginning.
I watched it with the hubby and even he was blown away. He also thought it was better than some of the others.
I can't wait to see more now! At least, provided they make them, which I'm sure they will.
