A gentle Eastern European immigrant arrives in New York City after his family and his life have been torn apart by his country's civil war. A man who loves to bowl rolls a perfect game--and then another and then another and then many more in a row until he winds up ESPN's newest celebrity, and he must decide if the combination of perfection and celebrity has ruined the thing he loves. An eccentric billionaire and his faithful executive assistant venture into America looking for acquisitions and discover a down and out motel, romance, and a bit of real life. These are just some of the tales Tom Hanks tells in this first collection of his short stories. They are surprising, intelligent, heartwarming, and, for the millions and millions of Tom Hanks fans, an absolute must-have!

TOM HANKS has been an actor, screenwriter, director and, through Playtone, a producer.  His writing has appeared in The New York TimesVanity Fair, and The New Yorker.  This is his first collection of fiction.

REVIEW:
A fantastic collection of stories!
I am so happy to have read the stories that come from Tom Hanks' brain. With tales from another time, or about issues from then or now, and even some spark of ingenuity, I was rapt. I do have favorites though. Go See Costas is my top choice. It's a story about life in a new country, and the struggle within language and culture barriers. Quite prolific!
I'm going to share a little part with you all, so you can get a taste of brilliance;

DING! I'm at my so-called desk in the so-called office of Greensheet Give-Away, the free shoppers' guide that once provided the Tri-Cities with oodles of coupons, advertisements, and, in the back pages, local interest stories where regular folks could see their name in print. I was crafting a piece on a dog show just held at the old Civic Auditorium--my pay was fifteen bucks!--when the most beautiful woman who ever started a conversation with me walked by and said, "You type fast." She was right, and since I was the fast type, I wooed her, wed her, and have been her main squeeze for over forty years.

Like, isn't that pretty amazeballs writing?! I know right?!
Definitely get this book. You won't regret it.

REVIEW:
Such great animation!
There was always something going on in this movie. Even though it was a story I have seen played out a million times and a million different ways, they all are different too. This had more of a story. It was very magical and is definitely fun for the whole family.
Want to point out, Max, the dog, stole the show for me. He is so adorable, even if animation. Such a good dog.
This is one of those Christmas movies that you really can enjoy all year round. It has enough laughs, fun and morals to be played anytime. Plus there is nothing wrong with Christmas cheer in February.
