Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods-a powerful family in the Colonies-and the servitude he's known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can't escape and the family that won't let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, his passenger, can find. In order to protect her, Nick must ensure she brings it back to them-whether she wants to or not.
Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods' grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home forever.

REVIEW:
It was okay.
The story itself involved some freaky time travel, that sometimes I didn't fully comprehend. Along with these people all on the hunt for an heirloom of sorts, that can be used for the greatergood evil of those who have it.
What I did love was the chemistry between Etta and Nicholas. Here were two totally different people that were brought together and became enamored. It was a nice change of pace to the slightly boring story, when these two started to blossom their romance.
In light of it, I may even read the next book just to see what transpires between them some more.
Do I think everyone will love this book? No. I do, however, think many will enjoy the love story in it as much as I did.

I have been wanting to read this too, especially seeing that the second one has released.
ReplyDeleteI have this one on my shelf, but I've been holding off on it for some reason. I'm just not 100% convinced it will be for me. But I definitely plan to try it at some point.
