Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel Presents

I've always wanted to visit the state of Louisiana. It's the home of famous cities such as New Orleans. You know what else it's home to? Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel. The name alone promises fun!

Located off the I-49, Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel is the premier racing, dining and casino entertainment destination in all of the Lafayette area. It's state-of-the-art design is almost 750 acres and even features a 7/8 mile turf with almost 1000 horse stalls. The casino has more space than you can possibly imagine, and houses more than 1300 slot machines. That's a whole lot of cha-ching going on!

Now making it's debut at Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel is;

“The Spotted Horse is a dining experience unlike anything else in this region,” said Ted Bogich, Senior Vice President of Operations for Boyd Gaming, owner and operator of Evangeline Downs. “With modern takes on traditional Louisiana flavors, offered in a beautifully designed and whimsical setting, the Spotted Horse gives customers another great reason to visit Evangeline Downs.”

Inspired by an urban legend of a 'long-necked spotted horse' winning the race by a neck, the restaurant features a tavern on one side and a full-service restaurant on the other. In the tavern you can taste the local craft beer and eat down-home food, or in the restaurant order yummy Southern dishes like chicken and sausage gumbo or Louisiana catfish which are Southern favorites. There is even some handy dinner-for-two options like Beer Can chicken or certified Angus beef tenderloin. Then be sure to have something from the delicious dessert menu like their bread pudding.

The thing that caught my attention most is the menu of almost 20 hot pepper sauces that customers can pair to their dishes. They have a ghost pepper and blueberry sauce and a Habanero carrot curry sauce that piqued my taste buds.

I know I am keen to visit Evangeline Downs. With a casino and horse track for entertainment and the restaurant for good eats, the hotel is a must. You will be so tired and full, you'd need the bed soon after.

Evangeline Downs is a property of Boyd Gaming. The Spotted Horse is the latest addition to enhance the amenities at Boyd Gaming Properties across the US. To learn more about this project and others, visit BoydGaming.com/Amenities

  1. Wow. It looks and sounds spectacular, Freda. I just spent a few days in New Orleans. Wish they'd had this hotel there. I'd love to see some horse racing. And my brother-in-law would love that menu of hot sauces. He likes it as hot as he can get it. LOL

  2. Hi Freda,
    What a great article! As the Sales Director for the Evangeline Downs Hotel, I'd be happy to assist you with any information regarding a future trip to Louisiana. Our area of Cajun Country is nestled among some charming small towns with lots of antique shopping, swamp tours, and a true Cajun French immersion in towns like Arnaudville, just a few minutes from Evangeline Downs. We're also a short drive to larger cities like Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans to check out festivals and events such as Mardi Gras in February 2016. And I haven't even mentioned anything about FOOD yet! Thanks for spreading the word to our neighbors to the north! For more information on our area, feel free to stop by www.CajunTravel.com!

    Have a great day,

As some of you may know, I love taking photos. Photography is a hobby of mine, but I often add some of my work to my walls. Recently, I was contacted by Canvas Champ, a company dedicated to making your photos come to life on canvas prints.

Since I had recently moved, the first thing to do was to walk around the place and see where a piece of art needed to be placed. Then it was about finding the perfect photo in my collection to hang there. Next, I was onto the website to start building the print.

Once you start, it will seem like there is too many options, but it's so easy to use. You choose the size, and within a few minutes you will be done and waiting for your art to show up.

The user interface is a simple design that you can easily get through with no hassle, even if you are not computer savvy a…

Why Upping Your PR Skills Can Help You as a Blogger

When it comes to running a blog, there are a lot of things you need to think about to be a success. Some of them are obvious, like coming up with quality content and marketing yourself well on social media, and yet they can be forgotten by a lot of bloggers. You may have great content but if you don't have good ways of boosting your blog's image, or dealing with the people who engage with you, then you'll be talking into a void. Here is why having good communication and PR skills, and even studying to improve them using something like an online master of communication management degree from the University of Southern California, is so vital for blog owners. You Want to Be a Credible Source of InformationWhen you put content out on the web, you want it to be either entertaining or useful – ideally both.
