The Very Healthy Spiral Slicer by Varietyland

Are you trying to eat better? Are you always on the lookout for the next product to help make mealtimes more interesting and tasty? Look no further.

This is The Very Healthy Spiral Slicer. It is a way to cut raw vegetables into a spiral style, which is similar to julienne. With this method, you can substitute flour dough as pasta for zucchini noodles. There are many other recipes you can make as well. Best part is, not only does it come with a recipe booklet in the box, but if you go to the website, you can download many recipe books too.

I love salads. I thought what a better way to create a slaw of sorts, than with this unique slicing tool. So I grabbed a carrot, a cucumber, and an onion to try it all out. I did not put the onion in the spiral slicer, only the veggies you see pictured.

You have to first clean and prep the veggies you will be using. Then you hold the handles properly, insert the vegetable, and turn in a circular motion. The vegetable cuts in spirals that can be pretty long, so if you need then shorter you will have to cut them, or learn the finesse it takes to cut while twisting. I'm sure after time that will be second nature. Still, it is very easy to use.

When the veggies get smaller, you use this 'lid' to grip the vegetable and twist with it. When it gets as far as it will go, you will have to discard the remainder of the vegetable. It does not cut it all for safety reasons. There are very sharp blades inside. Cutting the whole vegetable will probably result in injury.

Clean up is a snap. Just rinse under warm water, and use the brush provided to get out excess food waste.

You end up with a delicious recipe, and feel like it took a lot less effort to make. Here is my recipe for Carrot, Cucumber & Onion Slaw;

INGREDIENTS
Carrot
Cucumber
Vidalia Onion
Vinegar
Sugar
Vegetable Oil
Salt & Pepper

METHOD
After spiral slicing the carrot and cucumber, thinly slice the onion and throw into bowl. In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 c of vinegar with 2 tsps sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add 3 tbsp of oil, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix well and pour over veggies. Stir together and blend well, then let sit for a couple hours in the fridge before eating.

I love my Spiral Slicer, and have a feeling I will be using it quite often. I hope you get one and we can share recipes.

  5. We have a spiral thing and have been surprised at how well it works! Have mostly used it for carrots and zuch. Now I just have to figure out to dry it better before cooking with pasta sauce!

    1. My suggestion for drying would be a pasta hanger. They make special hangers, that look like a t shape. They are generally wooden. You hang the pasta over it, so it doesn't stick together. They're usually fairy reasonably priced too. Check places like Ikea.

  7. Although I have a while before my own zuchinni is ready in the garden, it's starting to show up in stores. So far, it's been the easiest/best thing we've spriraled!

REVIEW:
I sorta hated the beginning.
Starts outs so dark that you can't really make anything out. Hard to know what's going on if you can't see.
It doesn't take long to get light though.
Thankfully.
Man, does the story ever pick up after that. I don't remember much about the original but this one is intense. Right to the very last second too.
Sydney is badass and shows it throughout. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone thought you were o…

Meanwhile, the last heirs of a recently usurped dynasty plot to take back their homeland from across the Narrow Sea.
This is the eighth and final season.

REVIEW: I loved the whole series, but especially loved this season as it wrapped it all up.  There were a couple of moments that were so incredibly tragic, but also a couple moments where the most tragic things couldn't have happened to better people. Take Sussy for example. God, how I hated that woman through the whole show and couldn't wait for her to get what was coming to her. Did she get it here? You have to watch and see! This is the season where you will sit on the edge of your seat, waiting to see who will win the kingdom. Does your favorite character prevail above the others? MIne d…
