 The present was wrapped in tissue paper. I watched as she slowly peeled off each layer, smoothed it, and placed it in a neat, square pile on the table. When she was finished she looked at the bowl, turning it around.
 "You didn't have to get me anything," Clyde said. She touched the smooth glaze inside. She turned it over and read the bottom. "C. Simon." She looked up. "You made this."

    Such a sweet gesture! I love when friends and family make personalized gifts for me. . .I actually try to go out of my way to make my own too.

    But still, the moment in this 56 sounds so sweet, I'm curious to know what happens next! Great post!

    I really like it when people make things for each other rather than buy things but I'm terrible at everything creative, so I tend to have to resort to buying things! Bowls are always nice! Thanks for hosting Freda :) I hope you have a great weekend!

    I've got to go check this out further. Ever since I started reading Bette Lee Crosby's books, I've been drawn to this genre.

    It makes me wonder because those of us who haven't read it or know anything about it don't know the background or the relationship between the characters. It hints at an element of surprise and I wonder why Clyde is surprised at the handmade gift. And now I'm interested!

    Okay, I've never done this before. Not sure why. Probably because the books I read don't have 56 pages (The Little Pigs only has 16). I grabbed the one and only book from beside my bed, "The 100-Year-Old Man who climbed out the window and disappeared" and turned to Page 56. Note that I haven't started the book so I hope that I don't ruin it...

    Ten minutes later, Chief Inspector Aronsson arrives at Aker. By following the railway tracks, he discovered an old inspection trolley behind the factory. But the trolley provided no obvious clues.

    I read a few paragraphs ahead and it's got my attention.

    Anyone read this book? If not, think you want to read it now?
