#Giveawy: Antidote Skin Care Facial Butter #HolidayGiftGuide2014

Let's face it, the women of the house usually do the shopping and worry about the stocking stuffers. Those women deserve stocking stuffers too though and shouldn't have to get them themselves, or do what I do and give the hubby a list. Here are some great ideas from a skin care brand in Canada.
Antidote Skin Care Company Inc, is not your typical handmade skin care company. They ditched the common flowery designs in skin care brands, for a more edgy image to reflect who they are and what they're all about. They're in your face, they're on your face, they're serious about their products, but don't take themselves too seriously. All of their products are handcrafted in Canada by a trained Chef, using all natural organic oils, essential oils, and wild harvested botanicals infused through a tested culinary technique. All their products are 100% non-toxic, Paraben-free, GMO and cruelty free. As much as possible they use organic ingredients and a large number of their products are vegan friendly.
They were great enough to send me a few samples.

Sexy Secretary is a cuticle conditioner. It has a really nice, soft scent. It also makes my cuticles soft and not dry at all. It retails on the website for $12.
Foot Fetish is an invigorating foot balm. It has a refreshing peppermint smell, and feels soothing when you massage onto the feet. I particularly like it on my heel where it has a tendency to be more dry. This stuff made my heel feel soft. It retails for $16.
The vegan facial butter was the final sample I tried. The color is slightly different than the website, but I believe it still works the same. It has carrot seed oil and shea butter in it, all good stuff for your face. It smells really nice too. I have to say, if you are acne-prone, this might not be the best product for you. Being a butter it can contribute to acne-prone skin. if you don't, this can make your skin feel luxuriously soft. It retails for $30

I know a lot of women, and some men too, that would love each of these products I was sent to try. So why not give it a go with this generous giveaway the owner of Antidote Skin Care was so gracious to provide. I full size of the vegan facial butter mentioned above. It is open to US & Canada! Good luck!

#Recipe Minestrone Soup

**Recipe and photo owned by Freda's Voice.

Minestrone soup is one of my favorite soups that my mother-in-law makes, and since moving out of her home and into our own again, I need to figure out what went inside hers so I can make it myself. I'm happy to say I did get it, and the hubster says it is just like hers! That's a compliment!! So here is my rendition of my mother-in-law's soup.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup Ditali pasta shells 1/2 large onion, diced 2 tbsp olive oil 1 large garlic clove, minced 2 on-the-vine tomatoes, diced 1 zucchini, diced 3 organic carrots from bunch, diced 2 celery stalks, diced 1/4 head of cabbage, sliced and diced 1 can Cannellini beans, rinsed (white kidney beans) 2 cartons of vegetable stock 1 sprig of thyme 3/4 tbsp salt 1 tsp pepper 2 bay leaves
METHOD
Heat the oil in a pot on medium-low heat.  Add the onion and garlic, saute until golden. Add tomatoes, stir. Cook 2 minutes. Add zucchini, stir. Cook 1 minute. Add carrots, stir. Cook 1 minute. Add celery, stir. Cook 2 mi…

#Win Montana Family Cowboy by Linda Ford (US)

LINDA FORD grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head, often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted 10, and lived her dream. She lives on a small ranch in western Alberta, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Linda also provides care for a paraplegic, double-amputee man. She still finds a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction in creating imaginary worlds only now she does it on paper, or rather, at the computer.
Bon Appétit and a Book
Several family members are gluten-intolerant so I was thrilled to find this delicious treat.  NO BAKE COCOA BARS 1 cup peanut butter 2/3 cup honey ½ cup coconut oil (do not substitute) 2 cups old-fashioned, gluten-free oats (not the quick kind) 1 ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. I add a handful of slive…
