Freda's Voice 100+ Book Challenge 2014 Sign Up

Welcome to the first ever reading challenge here on Freda's Voice that we are hosting!
I decided to do this challenge due to my love for it, and my frustrations with other blogs that have hosted it. I'm not calling anyone out, but to have a successful challenge you need to keep up to date with the Linky lists, postings each month for your participants, and sometimes prizes help. I aim to do those and maybe more. We'll see how it goes, but I'll at least keep things up-to-date.

So the rules are as follows:

1. Create a post, but list as you read, either a blog or GoodReads, somewhere I can see it, and leave your url to that post in the Linky below.
2. Read some books. Any books. No limit in pages, even the phone book counts if that is your fancy. Just read!
3. That's it!

I may have prizes, haven't decided yet.
*UPDATE: I will be having surprise prizes based on reviews. I'm not sure how many, but at least one each  month!*

Each month a new Linky will be posted.

See you there and happy reading!

  1. Do you mean make a list of books we plan to read in 2014 or write the list as we read? XD sounds fun seeing as Ive read over 260 books in seven months.

    2. So we start the list now, or when 2014 rolls around? Pretty sure that is a stupid question. But want to make sure clear. Never done anything like this before.

    3. You create a blog post, saying your joining and whatever else you want to add, so you can add the url to the Linky. Your reading list can be done as you read. I will post mine soon for reference.

  2. Hello Freda. I applauded when I saw your write-up. My term for your beef is "delinquent host". We could probably rant examples for half an hour! Busy or emotional situations are understandable. We're referring to 'Say what?' scenarios!

Like you, 2014 will see me as a first-time hostess and offering 3 fun themes is my own priority and wish. I'd love it if you and your readers had a look. (P.S. Biggest pet peeve is offering prizes but not including all nations of your members). I love your positive demeanour. Warmly, Carolyn. http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/riedel-reading-themes/

  3. I am not going to commit until after holiday madness subsides but 100 books is easy for me. Doing the posting is where I fall behind but I've at least tried to do more reviews this year.
Since I enjoy my visits here and the bloggers I've met, I know this will be fun.

  4. I added a link but it is not the correct one. I will try to do better.

  6. Glad you started this challenge, Freda. Was getting frustrated with the other 100 Book Challenge which was hard to link up to.

  7. To get to 100 books, I think I'd have to read 3 picture books a month. Tempting, but I'll probably pass. Now if it were 70 or 80 I'd be in.

  8. I'm in, dear girl! I hope to find the same enthusiastic folks also gathering in any one of mine. :) Warmly, Carolyn.

  9. Good on you for taking this on. I can't handle 100 but I will be cheering everyone on ... and poking around the linky for reviews ;)

  10. Hi and thanks for hosting! This year for first time I set my goal on Goodreads to 100 books too, and this challenge is one more reason to push hard and make it :) I want to ask tho, do graphic novels/manga/comic books count?

  11. I like the idea of this, and would join in, but I checked my list so far for this year and I'm only at 17. I am currently reading 3. Yep, I read more than one at a time--book in hand, one in home player, one in car player.
I will look at lists posted here to get idea for books to read.
I appreciate your hosting this challenge. Have fun!

  12. I don't know if I've ever read 100 books in a year but I'm giving it a go!

Illumination and Universal Pictures present The Grinch, based on Dr. Seuss' beloved classic. The Grinch tells the story of a cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous spirit. Funny, heartwarming and visually stunning, The Grinch is fun for the whole family!

REVIEW:
Such great animation!
There was always something going on in this movie. Even though it was a story I have seen played out a million times and a million different ways, they all are different too. This had more of a story. It was very magical and is definitely fun for the whole family.
Want to point out, Max, the dog, stole the show for me. He is so adorable, even if animation. Such a good dog.
This is one of those Christmas movies that you really can enjoy all year round. It has enough laughs, fun and morals to be played anytime. Plus there is nothing wrong with Christmas cheer in February.

#ChristmasInJuly #Win A Onesie Or Pajamas Of Your Choice! (US/CDN)

The most wonderful time of the year is back, (a little early)! It's Christmas in July!! You too can celebrate with a wonderful gift right here. UglyChristmasSweater.com has the funniest, traditional and branded goodies on the planet! Here is a sneak peek at a couple of things I personally love on their site.

Last year, I reviewed one of the sweaters. You can view that post here. It is easily my favorite holiday sweater. It's so warm and I love the quality of it. This year, I was asked if I wanted a onesie or pajamas to check out. You know I had to jump at the chance, knowing what great quality clothing they have.

I got the Grinch on my onesie! I got an extra large size, and before you go crazy knowing that is big for me, I don't like my pjs to be tight and constricting. I always go a size up on my night clothes. I must have been traumatized in a past life.... These Grinch pajamas are soooooo soft and comfortable. The best part is that it's A/C season so I can actually wher…
