Goodnight Mr. Palmer

Michael Palmer, author of many books has passed away. Normally I wouldn't post about times like this but this author is different for me. I was first introduced to Michael Palmer in November of 2009, via Twitter. We corresponded and I agreed to review his book, The Last Surgeon. (I also hosted a giveaway for a signed copy.) He was the first author that reached out to me for a review. All of the other previous reviews had been through publicists or PR departments, or websites. This was one-to-one contact sort-of. So there is the significance. Sleep tight Mr. Palmer. Watch over your family and pass on your strengths to those who need  them most. Know your light and legacy lives on in them and us, your readers. Thank you for entertaining us!

Blasting About: Arbitrate (With #Giveaway)

arbitrate: It's one year later. And everything has changed. Remember The Second Chance Institute (SCI). Earth’s benevolent non-profit by day, Thera’s totalitarian regime by night. The SCI’s abuse of their charter leads to Arbiter oversight and bitter consequences. Remember Kira Donovan. Broken, burdened, and evading those who wish her harm, Kira enlists the Arbiters’ help when forced to return to the clutches of the SCI and her angry, estranged love. Remember Blake Sundry. Exiled, determined, and packing an agenda, Blake seeks assistance on Earth and Thera to use his newfound knowledge to bring down the SCI. Remember Ethan Darcton. #Giveaway: #97: Billy Moon - Douglas Lain

In Douglas Lain's debut novel set during the turbulent year of 1968, Christopher Robin Milne, the inspiration for his father’s fictional creation, struggles to emerge from a manufactured life, in a story of hope and transcendence. Billy Moon was Christopher Robin Milne, the son of A. A. Milne, the world-famous author of  Winnie the Pooh  and other beloved children's classics. Billy's life was no fairy-tale, though. Being the son of a famous author meant being ignored and even mistreated by famous parents; he had to make his own way in the world, define himself, and reconcile his self-image with the image of him known to millions of children. A veteran of World War II, a husband and father, he is jolted out of midlife ennui when a French college student revolutionary asks him to come to the chaos of Paris in revolt. Against a backdrop of the apocalyptic student protests and general strike that forced France to a standstill that spring, Milne's new French friend is a

Valente, author of the children's fantasy sensation  The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making . Kindle:  203 KB Print Length:  33 pages Publisher:  Tor Books (July 27, 2011) ASIN:  B0055673VS AMAZON US  |   AMAZON CA My review for book one, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making REVIEW: Such a vivid, creative, and beautiful setting. Mixed with some great characters and adventurous story-building, this is one fantastically magical short story. So descriptive, it feels like you can imagine Fairyland as if you could see it clearly. I just hope Mallow makes good decisions with her new-found power. Provided it continues throughout the series. Which I can't wait to read on! 4/5
