#Giveaway: Aunty Lee's Delights - Yu Ovidia

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the beaches of Sentosa, Singapore, AUNTY LEE’S DELIGHTS is a
delectable and witty mystery introducing a fresh new voice, author Ovidia Yu (William Morrow Trade
Paperbacks, on sale: September 17th, 2013; ISBN: 9780062227151, $14.99).
After losing her husband, Rosie “Aunty” Lee could easily have become one of Singapore’s “tai tai,” an idle
rich lady devoted to an aimless life of mah-jongg and luxury shopping. Instead Rosie Lee threw herself into
building a culinary empire with her restaurant, Aunty Lee’s Delights, where she graciously serves spicy
Singaporean home cooking to locals and tourists alike.
When a body is found in one of Singapore’s beautiful tourist havens and one of her wealthy guests fails to
show at a dinner party, Aunty Lee knows that the two are likely connected. The murder and disappearance
throws together Aunty Lee’s henpecked stepson Mark, his social-climbing wife Selina, a gay couple whose
love is still illegal in Singapore and an elderly Australian tourist couple whose visit--billed at first as a
pleasure cruise--may mask a deeper purpose. Investigating the murder is rookie Police Commissioner Raja,
who quickly discovers that the savvy and well-connected Aunty Lee can track down clues even better than
local law enforcement.
Wise, witty and unusually charming, AUNTY LEE’S DELIGHTS is a spicy mystery about love,
friendship and home cooking in Singapore, while money flows freely and people of many religions and
ethnicities co-exist peacefully, while tensions lurk just below the surface, sometimes – with deadly results.

Ovidia Yu is one of Singapore’s best-known and most acclaimed writers. After
dropping out of medical school to write for theatre, she has had over thirty plays
produced in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United
States, including “The Woman In A Tree On The Hill” which won an Edinburgh
Fringe First. She is also the author of a number of mysteries that have been published
in Singapore and India. Ovidia Yu received a Fulbright Fellowship to the University of
Iowa’s International Writers Program and has been a writing fellow at the National
University of Singapore. She speaks frequently at literary festivals and writers’
conferences throughout Asia.

AUNTY LEE’S FOOD AND SHOPPING TIPS:
Advice on tech shopping:
Aunty Lee recommends you take a look around the Funan DigitaLife Mall even if you are not a techno geek. And remember, Funan's free wireless internet system means you can go online there and then to test any gadget you buy.
Advice on where to eat durian:
Go to Durian Lingers for durian. Aunty Lee believes you can't say you've tasted Singapore until you've tasted durian. Ideally durians should be eaten squatting by the roadside under the tree they grew on, but in modern
Singapore this is seldom possible. Durian Lingers in Joo Chiat offers “designer” durians in air-conditioned comfort so you can have the durian experience without bringing the smell back into your hotel room. Because the smell does... linger. Aunty Lee recommends the “D 24” and a walk around Joo Chiat to look at the conservation district's early 20th-century shophouses.

REVIEW:
Such great animation!
There was always something going on in this movie. Even though it was a story I have seen played out a million times and a million different ways, they all are different too. This had more of a story. It was very magical and is definitely fun for the whole family.
Want to point out, Max, the dog, stole the show for me. He is so adorable, even if animation. Such a good dog.
This is one of those Christmas movies that you really can enjoy all year round. It has enough laughs, fun and morals to be played anytime. Plus there is nothing wrong with Christmas cheer in February.
