M Is For Mom

I am a mom, I have a mom and maybe you are a mom too.
One thing I have learned about being a mom is it's a thankless job.
I don't have the closest relationship to my mom, mainly due to distance, but I love her and know she did the best she could with me, so here is my homage to my mamma!
Mom, my older sister and me (1980)
When I was a kid, I thought my mom was the bees knees. She was the prettiest, gave the best hugs and always spoiled me rotten. For the most part she was a single parent and did it with only my sisters' help.

My mom is so funny. She is always the life of the party and everyone is friends with her.
Her good friend, Jon, is a famous Canadian sculpture artist, and even created a bust of my mom.
How many people can say they are forever around in art?! My mom, that's who!

She is also now a grandmother. She has four grandchildren through blood and three grandchildren through marriage. She also is a great-grandmother through marriage to two lovely kids.

I live in Hamilton. It's where I was born, and where my mom was raised. She was born in North Bay, Ontario though. Now she lives in Brockville, Ontario. It's about a five hour drive from us, including my sister. We don't get to see her very much so when we do it's a time to break out the camera.
This is my mom and I on Easter a few years ago. Since then my mom has lost a ton of weight. No, seriously, she has lost a whole person, and looks much different than here. I always loved her no matter what, but seeing her healthier and happier is a better feeling.
Here she is with my son. This was on her way to weight loss success. She is even smaller now. But this is the latest updated photo I have. This was taken in the fall, so not too far back. Still far enough to me.

With losing my dad, and my brother, I crave my mom and her attention more than I did as a child. It's good she lives farther away or I'd probably drive her nuts. She is all I have now,  and though we have some differences, I love her to bits.

So now you have met my whole family, except the hubster. He will be the V post though, so wait for it!

  6. M is for Mystery for me (I love to read them - cozies and historicals). Nice to meet your family. I love to look at pictures.

When I went to Canada I went to Toronto (twice) and on one trip I also went to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the Lake. Toronto's about five or six hours away from where I live in Toledo, Ohio. I took the Greyhound Bus.

  9. Wonderful post of your mom. How wonderful that she has done so well with her weight loss. Great photos of her and wonderful work of art.

We moved and are now closer to my dad (although that is still about 15 hours from where we live now to where he lives...and he does NOT do the computer, so I try to call either every day or every other day). My mom has passed away, and I miss her so very much and often wish I could talk and spend the day with her.

    Blessings & Aloha!
    I'm catching up on M posts :o)

REVIEW:
I sorta hated the beginning.
Starts outs so dark that you can't really make anything out. Hard to know what's going on if you can't see.
It doesn't take long to get light though.
Thankfully.
Man, does the story ever pick up after that. I don't remember much about the original but this one is intense. Right to the very last second too.
Sydney is badass and shows it throughout. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone thought you were o…

REVIEW: I loved the whole series, but especially loved this season as it wrapped it all up.  There were a couple of moments that were so incredibly tragic, but also a couple moments where the most tragic things couldn't have happened to better people. Take Sussy for example. God, how I hated that woman through the whole show and couldn't wait for her to get what was coming to her. Did she get it here? You have to watch and see! This is the season where you will sit on the edge of your seat, waiting to see who will win the kingdom. Does your favorite character prevail above the others? MIne d…

REVIEW: Boyfriend overload!!
The Rock, Jason Stathom and Ryan Reynolds in one film. Oh, my!
It was a great story, had tons of action and kick-ass moments. It was comical at times too. Everything I hoped for in this movie was there.
Just make sure you keep watching after the credits. It doesn't end when you think it does.
Watched with the hubby and he is a big fan. His exact words were, 'it was awesome'.
