August Monthly News

Welcome to the August edition of monthly news! It's bittersweet, this month. Last month of summer, but yay to the kids going back to school! Did you do anything this summer you care to share, comment and tell us. I had family come from Texas, and got to see 54-40 at an outdoor concert, but really that was it. Not a very exciting summer at all. I'll have to live vicariously through you all.   BOOKS: 1. Three Little Words - Susan Mallery (recommend) 2. Rory - Ciye Cho (recommend) 3. Val Kilmer and Elle Fanning star in this terrifying horror film written and directed by Academy Award Winner Francis Ford Coppola. Kilmer plays Hall Baltimore, a writer on a book tour who uncovers a disturbing murder that could be source material for his next novel. But as Hall investigates the killing, he finds himself confronted by chilling nightmares, including the ghost of a young girl (Fanning). As he uncovers more horrifying revelations, Hall will discover that the story has more to do with his own life than he could ever have imagined. Rated R 88 minutes AMAZON US   |   AMAZON CA REVIEW: Forty minutes into the movie, I was laughing my head off. For a horror film, that is a bad sign. That was also the only time I had any reaction to the film. It was pretty disappointing. It didn't help I had such high hopes... a Francis Ford Coppola film with Val Kilmer... what could go wrong?! Enough, let me tell you. It lacked any depth to the story. It had no character and

O Is For Older

Oven is not my choice this week. I use my oven, but don't feel like showcasing it. Today I am going to discuss my thoughts on getting older. At least for me. Yeah, I know it's gonna happen to us all, but now it's happening to me! When I was in my twenties, I use to think getting older was no big deal. At almost thirty I was still getting carded for I.D. at the liquor store. It was a fabulous feeling!!! Hard to think about getting older as a bad thing when everyone still acts like you're young. Even thirty was a piece of cake. I know, it sounds like I'm bragging now... but you ladies know it is gonna come to a crashing halt right?! And it does! My dad died when I was 32. By the time I was 33 I started to really see signs of aging and stress. Lines beginning to crease my forehead that weren't there before. Tons of grey hair, so much so, the dye didn't cover it for long. Now, pushing forty, I can't walk as far without my buttcheeks hurting for

#Giveaway: Darlene - David Russell

The hero, Percival arranges a date through a contact mag. He and Darlene have a rapturous scenario, handled with superb finesse and supreme command of the wardrobe. He finds some hints of her complicated past. Before and after the encounter, he is eyed up and accosted by malicious-seeming men. The sense of an underlying hornet’s nest is scary, and immediately detracts from the euphoria, which does finally prevail. Excerpt I envisaged Darlene dressing before her mirror, adoring her own image, caressing her thighs as she drew up her stockings, loving her own image in the mirror, savouring her own fully charged magnetism. I imagined delicious dressing in preparation for delicious undressing – perhaps some feeling in her bones that I might be someone out of the ordinary, or even an additional bonus of doing it with another woman before my eyes. I, in turn, practiced disrobing in front of my mirror, in subdued light, capturing all the alluring angles, savouring myself under
