#72: Poison Princess - Kresley Cole

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life—until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, killing everyone she loves, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally trust Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side…

Review:
This is one helluva action-packed adventure! The story is post-apocalyptic which I've really been digging lately. It also has a bit of romance which you get totally immersed into.
Jackson is one swoon-worthy guy! You can definitely see why Evie only has eyes for him. Can't blame her.
He is the type of guy that makes any girl's heart skip a beat.
The story also had a dark nature to it that I really liked. I wasn't expecting it so it was a pleasant surprise.
I look forward to the next book in the series. It ends in a spot where you'd rather it didn't, but that's they way most stories are....
Fantasy readers will really enjoy the paranormal aspect of the story while romance fans will love that part. Shows there is something for everyone!

Stop Distracted Driving!

This post brought to you by Insurance Hunter. All opinions are 100% mine.
Are you guilty of texting or uing your G.P.S. while driving? If you said yes, this post is for you.
You may think checking your phone or using your G.P.S. while driving is not a big deal. You're a multi-tasker, you say. But distracted driving is an issue that happens too often and should not be taken lightly. Studies show that 8 out of 10 accidents are due to distracted driving. By those stats alone, this shows this really has to stop. To know that this can all be prevented if drivers remain focused on the road and not their phones, should be enough to end it. You wouldn't want you or a loved one to become a statistic, would you?
It's time to put away those phones while driving. Keep your eyes on the road when you are behind the wheel, it could save a life, maybe even your own.
Stop Distracted Drivers
This is an instance when I am glad I no longer drive. I am sure I would be guilty of distracted driving. That is a scary thought. Being a pedestrian doesn't make me feel safe though. Not knowing this information. It enlightens me to the dangers and opens my eyes when walking in this large city. Now if I see someone driving distracted, it will be easier to contact the authorities, or at least keep my distance for safety.
I will definitely be talking proactively to everyone I know about their driving habits. Opening their eyes is the first step, but it's worth a try to make the streets we travel safer to be on.
Be sure you visit Insurance Hunter website and blog for more safety solutions.

John McClane goes global. For the first time, the New York City cop finds himself on an international stage as a fish out of water in Moscow. Review:
I sat down expecting a kick-ass action movie and that is exactly what I got!
Tons of WOW moments, so many wicked cool action scenes, lots of things getting blown to bits, groovy rides and graphic deaths.
I LOVE this Die Hard movie!
It fits perfect to this series. It's not as good as the first, but really they never are, still it's amazing in its' own right.
The hubby agrees. He says he loved that it was steady action.
Works for me. I bet it's work for you too!

Kenzie Michaels resides in the Midwest with her husband, three children, and various household pets. She is the 'wild child' of author Molly Daniels. They cohabitate nicely
inside the brain of a woman in Indiana who's the mother of three and 'Aunt
Molly' to the entire neighborhood. A devout chocoholic, her hubby has learned
to watch out when the characters in her head take over and not get too upset
when the words are flowing and all concept of time is lost. (LOL)

EXCERPT
Austin captured her once inside the darkened office and swung her into his arms for another kiss.  Her shoes hit the floor as she moaned, and felt his tongue slip past her teeth.
Cara struggled and tore her mouth from his.  “Wait. This can’t be happening.”
“Why not?  I’ve enjoyed the past two weeks of getting to know you.  I’d like to get to know you a little better, that’s all.”  Austin pulled her back and covered her mouth with his.
She hesitated a moment.  How long had it been since her last kiss?  It’d been two years since David had broken up with her, not understanding her responsibilities to her mother.  With a muffled groan, Cara tossed her purse to the floor and twined her arms around his neck.  Moisture pooled between her thighs as his tongue explored the corners of her mouth.  She eagerly returned the kiss, and was rewarded when one of Austin’s hands slid upwards to palm her breast.  Cara didn’t pull away; soon his cool fingers slid inside her bodice and nudged the lace of her bra aside.  She moaned when he rolled the nipple between two fingers and pressed herself closer to him.  Dimly in the background, she heard the vague tones of Bette Midler singing “Wind Beneath My Wings.”
“Wait. My phone’s ringing.  Austin,” she pleaded and forced herself to pull away.
“Can’t you ignore it?” He panted, reaching for her waist.
“I can’t.  This one is important.”

Kenzie will be awarding an eCopy of one of her back list to a randomly drawn commenter at each stop during the tour. An eCopy of Class Reunion and a $10 Amazon GC will be awarded to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour plus another randomly chosen commenter will win a $10 Freya's Bower GC.

Review:
A perfect touch of romance, lust and love. The sex scenes were pretty intense, the romance had great build-up and the ending was pure bliss. Honestly, I'm surprised it was as good as it was with it being so short. I'd love to read on about these characters though. See where things end up say five or ten years own the road.
Here is to hoping for more!

Bea tells herself she’s got it all under control. But this isn’t a choice, it’s a compulsion. The truth is, she’s breaking down…and she might end up breaking her own heart.

Review:
This story hits close to home with me. More than I even wanted it to.
I also have O.C.D. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Although my "things" are much different  from the characters in the story I can still sympathize and relate.
This is a wonderfully accurate account of what it is like to live with O.C.D. through the eyes of a few people. Not a story to be taken lightly though, and definitely not a subject people will be comfortable reading about, but still I think it needs to be read. More people should step out of their comforts to learn about others, even if in the form of a fictional story. It can still show you a glimpse into that life.
This is a deep read that will stay with all who read it for some time.

Review:
I couldn't get the hubby to watch this movie no matter how hard I tried. So alone I sat.
I soon realized it would be his loss. It was sweet like sugar and I liked it a lot. It has this bit of intrigue also because of the mystery going on. I liked that it wasn't just a lovey-dovey romance.
Being a woman who was once in an abusive relationship, at times the movie took me to places I wasn't sure I wanted to go to, but it didn't kill it for me or make me want to shut it off. On the contrary. I found myself immersed even more.
Now, honestly, it wasn't as good as The Notebook, but it was still decent.
Bring tissues for the end.... all I am saying on that.

Ford pulled out his cell phone and dialed 9-1-1.
"Fool's Gold 9-1-1. What is your emergency?"
"There's an unconscious man on the ground. Send an ambulance."
"Wh-?"
Leonard started to speak, but that was all he got out before Ford hit him and he crashed to the ground.

J Is For Jalapeno

Jack-o-lanterns.
Hmmmppppffffhhhh!
Still pumpkins to me.
Come to think of it, I don't know a single person who uses Jack-o-lanterns.
So obviously that won't be what I talk about. I don't do carved up pumpkins anymore anyways. My kids are too old to enjoy it, so why bother? I live vicariously through others.
This time I want to show you something I have to have. Can't live without it, so I grow my own.
Jalapeno peppers.
I love spicy food, and specifically cooking with hot peppers. The store closest to me doesn't always have a decent selection of hot peppers, so I decided to tackle growing them myself.
I have a bit of a green thumb and figured it wouldn't be too hard. (Keep in mind I have no yard to garden in, only my jungle that used to be a living room.)
I was right too!
They are easy to grow, and I have yielded enough to pass around to my friends as well. Though not too many, I don't ever want to be without.
The only other food resource I grow is parsley. Grows like a weed and is also really easy to grow. I don't use it too often, but it is nice to always have on hand.

What food resources do you grow??

Her paranormal action book Life’s a Witch received 18 million reads on the writing site Wattpad.com. What the Spell is the first published book in the series, followed by Life's a Witch and The Witch Is Back. Brittany lives in New York City with her husband, Matt, and two cats, Murray and Cohen. Visit her at BrittanyGeragotelis.com.

Review:
Mean Girls meets Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Imagine being a witch and not being able to use your powers. When you finally do get to use them you will probably go a little overboard. That's exactly what Brooklyn does. All in the hopes of fitting in with the popular crowd at school. Typical teenage angst, even for a witch.
It's so much more than high school drama though. There's love in the air, and Asher is totally swoon-worthy!
This story is fun, easy-to-read, and a sure hit with all who read it! I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
