#63: Two-way Street - Lauren Barnholdt

This is Jordan and Courtney, totally in love. Sure, they were an unlikely high school couple. But they clicked; it worked. They're even going to the same college, and driving cross-country together for orientation. Then Jordan dumps Courtney -- for a girl he met on the Internet. It's too late to change plans, so the road trip is on. Courtney's heartbroken, but figures she can tough it out for a few days.  La la la  -- this is Courtney pretending not to care. But in a strange twist, Jordan cares. A lot. Turns out, he's got a secret or two that he's not telling Courtney. And it has everything to do with why they broke up, why they can't get back together, and how, in spite of it all, this couple is destined for each other. Interview & Giveaway with Paige Pendleton

Paige W. Pendleton And The Black Ledge Series About the Author:  The secrets of the Red Paint People have haunted Maine for 7000 years.  Paige is busy writing those tales. Please tell readers about your current book. Right now I' m working on The Black Ledge Series. I have the first two books out, and four more planned.     The Black Ledge Series was inspired by The Red Paint People. I became fascinated with them, and decided to explore aspects of their history as a magical adventure, mostly because there was something magical about them, and their “adventures”.      The Red Paint People were a tribe of indigenous people who lived on the coasts of New England and Atlantic Canada regions of North America thousands of years ago.      The name The Red Paint People arose from their use of Red Ochre to decorate their belongings, and themselves. They decorated tools, clothing, and the bodies of their dead in burial preparation.     They were bold seafarers. Swordfi

Giveaway & Interview with Karina Halle

The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently splits her time between her apartment in downtown Vancouver and her sailboat, where a book and a bottle of wine are always at hand. She is hard at work on her next novel. Please tell readers about your current book. Shooting Scars is the sequel to Sins & Needles . It picks up where the last book left off and has three very damaged , dark and sexy characters who intertwine on their own journey through revenge and redemption. It's a g

The Friday 56

Welcome to Week 132 ! Rules: *Grab a book, any book. *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader  *Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you. *Post it. *Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. It's that simple. When I woke up, the first person I saw was Sophia, staring at me with wide-eyed concern. Despite the excruciating pain on my back, I had to smile at the sight of her. "Hey there..." I greeted softly.

F Is For Freda

Friends. Real ones are few and far between. That was a hard lesson learned for me, but the ones I have now I hold dear to me. But this wouldn't be right, with you getting to know me, if I didn't use this "F" opportunity to talk about myself. (Holy, narcissism, Batman!) Freda, the voice behind this blog. I was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1976. I also live here now, but haven't always. I did leave for about 7 years total, but made it back as an older teenager. I was a rotten kid. Spoiled rotten. Always getting into mischief and paying the price. This means I spent the majority of my childhood in my bedroom, grounded, with only my books to occupy me. And so a bookworm was born. I read my mom's extensive Stephen King collection before puberty. Yup, it was good and bad. I loved the stories, but became afraid of the dark. Didn't stop me from reading horror at night, until I was much older. In 1987 we moved to Dunnville, Ontario. A.K.A. The country.

#60:Chameleon - Kelly Oram (With Giveaway)

Freda's Voice was not compensated for posting. Freda's Voice was given a copy for review purposes. Opinions are 100% owned by this blog.  For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.  As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t

Blasting About: John William and the Bandits of Basswood (With Giveaway)

DISCLOSURE: Freda's Voice received no compensation for posting.    John William and the Bandits of Basswood We already know Alexander Drake’s story. His father, John William started it all years before when he entered Azra’s Pith. This is his story. John William was born an explorer; just like his dad before him. His adventure really began with the worst year of his life. He lived everyday in misery until his twelfth birthday. He set out to turn things around and find his smile again. A new friend gave him an invitation he could not turn down… follow me and change your destiny. He never imagined being captured by bandits and taken to a ship riddled with river rats was part of his fate. Not just any bandits – the Bandits of Basswood; known to be a ruthless and wild crew of thieves. Trying to escape would be a ridiculous idea. No one has ever escaped and lived to tell about it. Someone should have mentioned that to John William before he snuck off the ship. The chase out of B
