A Barefoot Bay Novel

When running is all you've ever known . . .
Caught between fight and flight, Zoe Tamarin has always picked flight. Since she was rescued from a nightmare childhood by her great-aunt Pasha, they've been on the move, never staying in one place long enough to risk exposing their precarious past. But now that they've reached the sun-baked shores of Barefoot Bay, Zoe may have to stay and fight-for her aunt's life . . . and for a love she ran from years before.
Sometimes the bravest act of all is to stand still.
Oliver Bradbury came to Florida to start over, as both a doctor and a father to his eight-year-old son. He never expected life to hand him a second chance with the woman he lost years ago-but one look at Zoe Tamarin and he knows he'll do whatever it takes to prove that this time, he can be the man she needs. But when demands of family and friendship threaten to shatter their rekindled passion, Oliver must heal Zoe's lifelong wounds with more than hot kisses . . . but will that be enough to keep her from flying off with his heart?

Roxanne's Favorite Summer Memory
Great question! Might be the toughest question I’ve ever been asked because, ahem, what if my husband reads this and he’s not the object of my best summer romance memory?  Oh, I have so many!  So, I’ll go waaaaay back...to my pre-teen years.  My family took a vacation in Florida and I was about twelve or thirteen. Not my peak beauty years, I’ll admit.

But one day as I walked the beach looking for shells with my older sister, I spied a boy about my age, who seemed not to notice that I had braces, boring brown hair, and nature hadn’t quite filled me out yet.  I think it was that moment that my sister taught me the “laugh with your friend even if nothing’s funny because everyone is more attractive when they laugh” trick.  It worked!

He eventually came over and talked to me and for the next week we took a few walks on the beach and talked.  His name was Barry, he had a shock of bright red hair, a very sweet personality, and he lived in Canada.  I wish I could remember his last name -- I’d find him on Facebook right now!  At the end of the week, he gave me my first little kiss (chaste!) and we exchanged (dating myself here) street addresses.  Like, you know, snail mail.  We corresponded for about a year but lost touch.  I’m sure he doesn’t remember the girl from Pittsburgh, but I remember him because he was the first boy to make me feel truly pretty.  And my sister is right - everyone is more attractive when they’re laughing!

Teaser Tuesdays

He sat there frozen, unsure what he was supposed to do next, but when I kissed him back he learned quickly. I could feel the fire of the cravings burning inside me but it didn't consume me the way it had when I'd kissed Russ. This was slower, calmer. It was filled with a different kind of passion. It left me utterly and completely breathless.

Review:
And again hanging on a cliff for dear life!
The book picks up exactly where book one leaves off, which if you read my review of that one, you'd know I was hanging tight there too. Ah, but it picked up fast with the edge already in it, and I was able to fall right back into the story.
This one is good too, and so much more romantic than the last one. Scarier too though. Moments where you wondered just how gritty it was gonna get, then it went somewhere better.
I can't wait to get on book three, so Miss Bella, I hope you're listening....

Being the frizzy-haired tomboy with buck teeth gave me a slight case of shyness as a kid. A colorful imagination meant escape and adventure at the drop of a hat. Over the years I learned that the insecurities I carried around were a waste of time. I still prefer a football game to a manicure any day of the week. That indispensable imagination has found its way into my writing providing a sense of joy and a true purpose.

My review for book 1, Heiress
My review for book 2, Baroness

Review:
I've enjoyed this entire series, but this one is my favorite book so far.
I love the era, and it being based around glitzy, glamorous, Hollywood. It is a theme you can put into any story I read. There is just something that appeals to me about the 1920's - 1940's. The music, the clothes, the class everyone seemed to have had... all call to me.
I really hope the author continues this legacy series of stories. After reading this one, I hope the next are about Roxys' children, continuing the legacy.
Even though this is a series, you can read them as stand alone books. I wouldn't recommend that though, as they are fantastic enough to start at book 1. Learning the back stories to some of the characters may not be necessary to follow along, but it makes it better.

Thank You Jergens For A Wonderful Night!

Last night I was honored to attend Stars on Ice, thanks to Jergens® Skincare

I was also delighted by some figure skaters that were not Canadian. American Ashley Wagner was so beautiful to watch. She was very graceful in her movements.

Sinead Kerr & John Kerr are the British champions. They were exceptional and the skating mixed with the music was incredibly powerful. I could definitely see why they are champions.

But you know what?! I went with all the intention of screaming the loudest for Kurt Browning.
For his whole career I have been a fan. So to have the opportunity to watch him skate, let alone skate to "Singin' In The Rain", (which I got to see him perform twice in a row!), I was in awe. Here is a little teaser video for you all.

I also had my heart stolen during the last olympics. Remember, Canadian olympian Joannie Rochette lost her mom. When she performed her routine during the olympics, I cried. Oh, how I cried. And to see her last night, looking like an angel, I had to choke back the emotion.
Her mom is definitely looking down on her very proudly.

That brings me to the sponsors from last night. Investors Group, Lindt and World Vision.
As these skaters have wonderful families and sponsors to help them on their journey to competitions and shows, there are places like World Vision that help those who don't have that support that every child needs.  A commercial was played at intermission, and I couldn't help but cry. Sad to think of what we take for granted, and all over there are children who need, even just a nudge of love and emotional support. I was able to give a small donation after the show, but it's not enough. I hope you reading may find time or money to give too.

And now to close, I want to thank Jergens for the most amazing experience a lady could ask for. I have memories that will never be replaced, and a swipe off my bucket list. Also a huge thanks for the goodies that were handed out! You're the best!

Blasting About: Family Ever After (With Giveaway)

Family Ever After: Simple Ways to Achieve Perfect Happiness in an Imperfect Family
 Women frustrated with their marriage and their family will find the help they need to achieve greater happiness and success in their family in the new book, Family Ever After: Simple Ways to Achieve Extraordinary Happiness with Your Ordinary Family by stay-at-home mom, blogger, and ordinary family leader Michelle H. Packard. Family Ever After uses the fairytale concept that once you find your prince charming life is happily ever after. Michelle H. Packard knows this concept, while romantic, is not realistic, and she provides a practical, poignant, funny, and moving exploration of the simple ways you can help find greater happiness and satisfaction in your marriage and family. Packard says, “While the idea of happy ever after is distorted, you can, in fact, achieve a Family Ever After.” Family Ever After brings time-tested and well-researched principles to family life to help you learn specific ways to improve your marriage and your family, whether that family is ordinary or extraordinary. Using real-world examples of best practices and helping woman readjust their media-driven perception of what happily ever after means, Family Ever After gives readers a pragmatic, helpful, and entertaining exploration of:
  • How happiness in marriage and family life requires a more educated, real-world perspective
  • How proper prioritization and defining what’s important in marriage and family is key to success;
  • Why conflict is part of an ordinary family experience and how to peacefully resolve it;
  • How to cultivate a sense of humor;
  • How to develop a thoughtful and sincere habit of complimenting each member of your family;
  • How to improve family relationships with extended family members; and
  • Learning how to love a family member in the way they understand and accept that love
More than another how-to-have-a-perfect-family book, Family Ever After helps you gain the understanding and the practical skills of what makes ordinary families successful. Family Ever After is an essential and beautiful resource for all women who want to put more happiness in theirs and their family’s life.

  Praise
"Family Ever After is a must-read for every happily married Cinderella who wonders why she’s still holding the broom." --Rachelle J. Christensen, award-winning author of Wrong Number and Caller ID

 "Michelle is open enough to have given readers an intimate look into her life and those close to her, allowing us to learn from both painful and sweet experiences.  Her self-reflective style and meaningful insights, if applied, would clearly make a profound impact in the lives of readers." --Shawn Edgington Ph.D.

Michelle Packard is a mother to her four very human and totally fabulous kids. Her oldest, Ella is always in charge and leads the pack with creativity and curiosity, Daniel follows with loyalty and loves tenderly, Julia is a doll and always buzzing over something beautiful, and Jackson could hunt down the last sharpie on earth to create art on your bathroom wall. She has been married ten years and is quite taken with her guy. Date night is her favorite and she dreams of weekend getaways with her man. She loves creating beauty through floral design, but apparently has no gift with living flowers (They end of upside down and pressed in books). She finds parties alluring. They beckon her to invite people over, spend way too much time preparing food for murder mystery dinners, and totally enjoy friends and family. Michelle holds a bachelors degree in Home and Family Science from Brigham Young University. She has spent a great deal of time working with children and young adults and finds her greatest joy is happy families.

Logic told me I was scared--terrified even--but I couldn't seem to act on that fear. I wanted to scream and run but my body tensed for a fight. There were strange new emotions in me and I had no idea where they were coming from or how to control them. Threat. This man was a threat. I had to fight him. I had to protect myself and my territory.
