February Monthly News

I hope you all had a nice February, especially Valentines Day.  Yeah, I know it's a Hallmark holiday, but I love Hallmark and I love holidays.  Win, win!! I also listen to the groundhog each year, though, I wonder why.  It's a fight as to which groundhog to listen to and who is right, but Willie says we'll be seeing Spring sooner rather than later. I can live with that. I need spring to be sprung like it was yesterday....  So, so far in the "genre count", I'm liking YA a lot more than I thought. Seems to be the pick for me... wonder if the trend will continue? BOOKS: 1. Rally 'Round the Corpse - Hy Conrad  (recommend) 2. My Dog's Got Fleas - Julia Dweck (recommend) 3. The Love Dog - Elsa Watson (recommend) 4. The Immortal Rules - Julie Kagawa (HIGHLY recommend) 5. Writers' Devotions To Go - LeAnn Campbell 6. The Map of the Sky - Felix J. Palma (recommend) 7. Diva Delights Devotions To Go - Marilyn Nutter 8.

The Sessions

Academy Award Winner Helen Hunt joins Academy Award Nominees John Hawkes and William H. Macy in this triumphant true story about love, sex, desire...and making every breath count. AVAILABLE TODAY! Rated R 95 minutes (Affiliate link) Review: Sex, sex and even more sex is all that surrounds this 38 year old virgin. Halfway through the movie, I was regretting watching it and wished I could turn it off. I couldn't though and give a real opinion. What if it came together at the end and I missed it?! Well, I didn't miss squat. It had a great group of actors, doing decent acting, with just an okay story. Really, it just wasn't my thing. 2/5 DISCLAIMER: I received a screener for review. I was not compensated. All opinions are my own.

#22: Men Don't Pee Straight - Rick Dean

(Affiliate link) Chock full of male stereotypes that every spouse, girlfriend, and mother has always recognized but never fully realized, "Men Don't Pee Straight" provides a humorous outlet for the irksome habits of that man in their life. Short but sweet, these cartoon illustrated pages take male stereotypes to a level of ridicule that is sure to bring a smile - especially for those who can smile at their own quirks. Paperback:  44 pages Publisher:  Rick Dean Books (May 15, 2012) ISBN:  9780615642154 AMAZON US AMAZON CA Author Bio: Rick Dean is a true study of human nature. By carefully blundering through one relationship after another, he has achieved an astonishing level of understanding and experience with how not to maintain a relationship. He enjoys sharing that depth of acumen (or at least what he would like to believe is a depth of acumen) with cartoon illustrated literature. Review: If you're looking for the perfect gag gift

Giveaway & Excerpt: The Maiden Lane Series - Elizabeth Hoyt

“I would be grateful if you stayed away from the Viscount d’Arque,” Godric said as he led his wife onto the dance floor. He mentally winced at his own stiff tone, but in this matter he could not seem to see reason. She was his wife and he’d damn well not take her straying lying down. She cocked her head, looking more curious than outraged. “Is that an order?” He immediately felt a fool. “No, of course not.” The music began, the movement of the dance drawing them apart before he could explain further. Godric inhaled deeply as he paced, trying to subdue the incredible wrath that had overtaken him at the sight of Margaret with d’Arque. When the dance brought them together again, he murmured low so the other dancers could not overhear, “I know it’s hard for you, wanting a child, but this isn’t the way.” “What way do you mean?” she asked carefully. Too carefully. Nonetheless, he could do naught but answer truthfully. “With d’Arque as your lover.” For a
