Cathy Bryant is a wonderful Christian author, and I have had the pleasure of reading all of her Miller's Creek novels. The first, Texas Roads, was a wonderful introduction to a group of people in a quiet, Texan town. The second book, A Path Less Traveled, took us deeper into the lives of these people we grew to love. Her third book in the series, The Way of Grace, is set to be released soon. I am lucky to be on the tour for that book as well, so watch for my review.
Here is a little more about The Way of Grace.
In pursuit of justice, in need of grace . . .
A justice-seeking perfectionist pursues her dream of a perfect life in her hometown of Miller’s Creek, Texas. Sidetracked by a desire to be a prosecuting attorney, Grace Soldano launches into uncharted waters, making herself over to please her boss and mentor.
Then a disheveled free spirit turns her perfectly ordered world upside down, challenging the concept of personal goodness. A fall from perfection leaves Grace teetering between vengeance and grace, caught in a deadly crossfire that leaves her dreams in a heap of ashes.
Can she learn to joyfully accept the life God has given her–far from perfect–but completely immersed in His grace?

HOW TO WRAP YOUR BRAIN AROUND GRACE
By Cathy Bryant, © 2012
I’ve always been one of those crazy
ladies who overthinks everything—what to wear, why the sky is blue,
how to comprehend grace. (Okay, I’ll admit that the last mention
carries quite a bit more weight than the first two.)
While my head understands the
definition of grace—divine and unmerited favor—what I really want
to know is “Why?” Why would the Creator of the universe freely
bestow the gift of grace on humanity, when more often than not we
disregard the gift?
Even those who profess to follow Him
live out big chunks of their lives on auto-pilot, without stopping to
consider the concept or the costliness of grace. And outside the
ranks of Christianity, God and His grace are often held in contempt.
So why would He continue to show all of us grace—not just a drop of
it here and there—but lavish abundant grace that immerses us on a
daily basis?
None of us are worthy of such a gift.
And there’s nothing we could ever do to be good enough to earn it.
Even the best people in the world aren’t perfect—we all have our
flaws and hang-ups. So why, God? Why would you even bother with
grace?
The answer can be summed up in one
word: LOVE.
Think about the people you truly love.
You can’t not love them or un-love them. You love them “just
because.” Even if they betray you, treat you with disdain, turn
their back on you and walk away.
The same is true for God. That’s how
much He loves us. No matter how we treat Him, His love for us never
ever changes. He proved it on a cross in the midst of a people who
put Him there.
The grace poured out over two thousand
years ago surrounds us still, and it’s motivated by the purest
love. But as is always the case with a gift, we choose whether or not
to accept it.
