BBAW: Day Four: Pimp That Book

Thursday: One of the best parts about book blogging is the exposure to books and authors you might never have heard of before. Pimp the book you think needs more recognition on this day. Get creative! Maybe share snippets from other bloggers who have reviewed it or make some fun art to get your message across.

Hi bookworms!
Today is all about sharing a book that you think needs to have more recognition. For me, I decided to share a book that I feel has impacted me since beginning my book blogging journey. Also it is not one of the 3 books mentioned in my Day Two post.  So without further adieu, I give you...
The Human Bobby - Gabe Rotter
Purchase at Amazon US
Paperback: 304 pages
Publisher: Simon & Schuster; Original edition (August 17, 2010)

I went through a tiny place called Hell to get this book. It almost didn't happen, didn't show up, went back and forth between me and the PR department as to its' whereabouts.  It was becoming a frustrating nightmare. Then it arrived. Screaming for me to read it, since I did so much complaining about where it was. I sat down that night and started to read. Not sure how deep the book would take me, and frankly, on the fence as to how far I would allow it to go, but I had no control over how it captured me. Once I got a few pages in, I knew I wasn't stopping or letting up any time soon. This is one of those stories that you really can't get enough of. If memory serves me correctly, at the end of the book, as I sat it down, my words were, "holy crap!" It was one helluva ride and I didn't really want to get off.
Sadly, I haven't read anything by Gabe Rotter since. I couldn't even tell you if he has wrote another book since then... but I will say, I'll be looking into it. I forgot how much I feel in love with his literary talents and crave more now that it's resurfaced.
Oh, and in case you didn't get it already from the gist of this post, get a copy of this book soon. You will not be disappointed in the least, plus I would love to hear your thoughts.

Happy reading!

  1. I love it when a book grabs hold of me that way and won't let go--or maybe it's me not wanting to let go of the book. Whichever, it's a great feeling and a reminder of why I love to read so much. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to look for this one.

  2. I'm so intrigued! I've never heard of this book but it sounds like a real page-turner which I love in all my books! I'm glad you were finally able to get your hands on a copy, sometimes it's almost more satisfying when it's not a straight shot to the mailbox, but it can be frustrating too!

Thanks for sharing this one, I'll be checking it out now! I totally forgot BBAW was this week (facepalm)

REVIEW:
Such great animation!
There was always something going on in this movie. Even though it was a story I have seen played out a million times and a million different ways, they all are different too. This had more of a story. It was very magical and is definitely fun for the whole family.
Want to point out, Max, the dog, stole the show for me. He is so adorable, even if animation. Such a good dog.
This is one of those Christmas movies that you really can enjoy all year round. It has enough laughs, fun and morals to be played anytime. Plus there is nothing wrong with Christmas cheer in February.
