Z Is For Zaftig

Zaftig.
Maybe not a word you are familiar with.
It means to be voluptuous or pleasantly plump.
Like every woman in my family, except me.
I don't have a problem with it, but my mother does. She has gotten so tired of being zaftig, she is getting a Gastronal Bypass Surgery.

Honestly, I will miss the hugs. She currently gives the best ones. Will they change as she gets smaller?
Can men be zaftig?????

#64 : Never Knowing - Chevy Stevens

Synopsis & Book Info:
From the acclaimed author of Still Missing comes a psychological thriller about one woman’s search into her past and the deadly truth she uncovers.
All her life, Sara Gallagher has wondered about her birth parents. As an adopted child with two sisters who were born naturally to her parents, Sara did not have an ideal home life. The question of why she was given up for adoption has always haunted her. Finally, she is ready to take steps and to find closure.
But some questions are better left unanswered.
After months of research, Sara locates her birth mother---only to be met with horror and rejection. Then she discovers the devastating truth: Her mother was the only victim ever to escape a killer who has been hunting women every summer for decades. But Sara soon realizes the only thing worse than finding out about her father is him finding out about her.
What if murder is in your blood?
Never Knowing is a complex and compelling portrayal of one woman’s quest to understand herself, her origins, and her family. That is, if she can survive. . . .

My Opinion:
My Review for Still Missing. It was my favorite book for August 2010, so when offered the chance to read this book I pounced!
I'm so happy I got to read it! I absorbed every word, and was on the edge of my seat through the whole story. The best part is when you think you think you have it all figured out, BAM! The surprise was an extra bit of magic!
I hope all you suspense/thriller fans get out there and start reading Chevy's stories. She is an amazing storyteller, and leaves you wanting to read more and more. I guess she better get writing!

HACHETTE BOOK GROUP LAUNCHES JERICHO BOOKS,
NEW IMPRINT FOR NASHVILLE DIVISION

(Nashville, TN) Hachette Book Group is pleased to announce the launch of a new faith-based imprint called Jericho Books. Jericho Books is an imprint of the Nashville Division of Hachette Book Group and will be led by Wendy Grisham, who will serve as Publisher and Vice President.

The mission of Jericho Books is to seek new, innovative authors who reflect a growing change in the church. These non-traditional voices will appeal to the fresh perspectives in today’s culture and provide an avenue for those exploring political and social issues as they relate to faith.

“I’m very excited about this new opportunity and adventure. There is a growing worldwide community that is pushing traditional boundaries. Jericho Books will provide a platform for these authors,” says Wendy Grisham.

“We look forward to launching another imprint under the leadership of someone who has such a stellar reputation in inspirational publishing,” said Rolf Zettersten, Senior Vice President of the Nashville Division. “Many American authors are very familiar with Wendy who acquired their rights from US houses and published them so successfully in the UK.”

Wendy has an extensive background in book publishing. Previously she served as the Rights Manager at Random House, UK from 2001-2004, Publishing Director for EMEA and acting International Publishing Director at Alpha International from 2005-2007, and since 2007 as Director of Publishing for Hodder Faith, a Hachette UK company.

Jericho Books will launch in the summer of 2012. Wendy will report to Rolf Zettersten, Senior Vice President of the Nashville Division, and will be based in the Nashville office. She will continue to collaborate with the Hodder Faith team in the UK to acquire books, as appropriate. Wendy can be reached at wendy.grisham@hbgusa.com or 615-371-7773.

W Is For Water

Water.

Everything on earth uses it for a life source.
It is also part of our genetic make up. Like 80% of our body is water. Maybe not high quality H2O but still.....
Even plants need water.

Maybe not when it's raining. Then you should set your hose aside.
Conserve and think smart people. We're soon to be in a water recession, especially if Nostradamus has his way.

Keep the lakes, rivers and oceans clean.

Giveaway: The Guardian - Margaret Mallory

Synopsis:
Four fearless warriors return to the Highlands to claim their lands and legacies. But all their trials on the battlefield can't prepare them for their greatest challenge yet: winning the hearts of four willful Scottish beauties.
PASSION IGNITED
After years of fighting abroad, Ian MacDonald comes home to find his clan in peril. To save his kin, he must right the wrongs from his past . . . and claim the bride he's long resisted.
As a young lass, Sìleas depended on Ian to play her knight in shining armor. But when his rescue attempt compromised her virtue, Ian was forced to marry against his wishes. Five years later, Sìleas has grown from an awkward girl into an independent beauty who knows she deserves better than the reluctant husband who preferred war to his wife. Now this devilishly handsome Highlander is finally falling in love. He wants a second chance with Sìleas - and he won't take no for an answer.

My Opinion:
Annie Greer makes me laugh. Her life with animals is a hoot, and the way she and Tim put it in the book had me barrel-rolling over with laughs.
I'm so glad the title focuses on the chimp though, since the story involving said chimp is going to haunt my dreams later this evening! Poor woman must be a little traumatized to say the least, I know I would be.
I really appreciated these humorous tales of her life with various exotic animals. There's nothing Jane Goodall about her, but that's what appeals to me. Her colorful personality mixed with the animals and their antics, shine through.
Definitely a good afternoon read!

U Is For Up

How often do you look up?
It is one of my most favorite things to do. Especially with a camera in my hot little fist.
You just never know what you will see.
Maybe a bird, like this Peregrine Falcon, will be perched upon a light post in the city.

Or you see a plane out for a jaunt from the Heritage Warplane Museum.

Or maybe it's a Supermoon that only happens once every 18 years.

Whatever it may be... keep in mind a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King....

"Only look down on someone if you are helping them up."

T Is For Tower

We have what used to be the largest tower in the world, until Dubai beat us out, The CN Tower. It's located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.... for those that don't know, which I am certain you all do.

I have visited the tower many times in my life, living 40 minutes away from it. It never ceases to amaze me each time I see it.

I've taken so many different angles... in this photo, you would think it was a whole new building.

It really should be one of the natural wonders of the world. As a kid I took a trip to Jupiter, and it left from the CN Tower! I'm totally serious!!!

There's also the TD Tower, but I really only enjoy that one at night.

So come to Toronto, take a VIA Rail train, and see what you enjoy most.
