Synopsis & Book Info:
John Lennon -- Life is What Happens celebrates the life and times of one of the most influential musicians in pop music history. A singer, songwriter, artist, social activist, husband and father, Lennon's genius inspired a generation -- and continues to do so today some 30 years after his death.
This fascinating read features rare images of Lennon juxtaposed by the myriad pop-culture memorabilia created from the height of Beatlemania into the late 1970s and the Plastic Ono Band. Chronicling his musical career, the book includes hundreds of classic photographs, dozens of quotes by and about Lennon, and personal reminiscences from fans and celebrities recalling Lennon's impact on their lives.

My Opinion:
As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to read it. Just like the rest of the world, I am a Beatlemaniac.
With that said, I have read many bios and memorabilia books based on The Beatles and themselves as solo acts. This book was decent content wise, but after all the other books out there I was a little let down on the memorabilia department. At least in Lennon Legend: An Illustrated Life of John Lennon by James Henke there was at least pull-out memorabilia. This was just photos upon photos. Good photos though!
Any Beatlemaniacs are going to love it anyway, but regular non-Beatle fans or Lennon fans will think they've seen it all before.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds interesting but I've read some many books and articles about the Beatles it would have to be something very special to get my attention.
