About Company and Products Offered:
For that teen who wants to make a difference in the world and isn't quite sure how. Boom Boom! Cards are 26 playing cards, each with actions on them like: "thank a teacher", "eat lunch with someone who's eating alone", "do a family chore without being asked", or "burn an inspirational CD for a friend who needs it". Teens can post about the experience of playing their card on the companion website as well as comment on other people's Boom Boom! actions. Then, they can give their card away for someone else to play. The website's map makes it easy to see who plays the card next and where it travels to. Teens love the like minded community of people who are being kind and tracking it online!

My Opinion:
This is a great way to try to get your teens to commit to random acts of kindness. The problem is getting them to try it in the first place. The only way to get the results you want, and have them do it too, is do lead the way. So that is exactly what I did. I picked a card from the deck and made sure to perform my duty the next day. Here is a photo of what I did:
This was for my 15 year old son, and he saw it before school in the morning. He admitted to me after school yesterday, it did put a kick in his step all day, and in turn that is what made me feel good.
He, in turn, grabbed a card from the deck to perform today. He chose; Hold A Door Open For Someone All Day Long. I am sure he will hold onto his end of that task.
So yes, it's worth a try. Even if they fight in the beginning, they may conform in the end when they see how it works.

This sounds really good and I think it will give teens something to think about. I love the idea behind it.
ReplyDeleteAs I read the discription I was thinking that teens will never do this on their own. When I got to your opinion I had to smile. You are one great mom Freda!
