Full Description from Book:
With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.
Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of life--and for building a better world.
Eckhart Tolle is a contemporary spiritual teacher who travels extensively, taking his message throughout the world.

My take on the book selection:
This book was so many things for me. It challenged me in ways I didn't think it could. It was interesting enough, but at times too I felt, it was just someone's ideals being pushed across. I have my own beliefs and faith, especially when it comes to religion, and I don't like it to be pressed into every issue or topic. The above description from the book is a prime example of what I'm talking about. It says it will inspire you, make you question your ego and spirituality. I agree in some parts it did, but for the MOST part, it fell flat. I was expecting a lot more actual answers, when we got spiritual references. I am a person based on facts, and they just weren't there all the time.
This book couldn't capture me like a novel and pull me in, it's way too touchy a subject. I also wanted to read it thoroughly, making sure to absorb what I could. Most of it already known through common sense and good judgment. I did think the book was cleverly written, but I should have read the previous first. Maybe it would have been a better read. I think all points were truthful enough, they just weren't conveyed for everyone. This book in my opinion is a self help book, geared to a certain quota. One that I do not fill. I just don't feel "awakened."
Not on my recommendation list. Sorry Oprah!
